Welcome to the Teaching Project

The Claremont Teaching Project provides teaching materials to public and private school educators to improve their students’ critical thinking skills. Our goal is to improve learning skills. We believe success in today’s world isn’t as much about how much you know, but about your ability to learn, think critically and reflect upon situations academically, professionally and personally.

We aim to build a library of lessons, activities and materials that can assist teachers in building students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills. We also want to be a resource for students who are looking for ways to improve their own learning skills.

Our mission isn’t to provide content specific lessons – but to help students interact effectively with content.

Our core curriculum will include:
✱ Recognizing logical fallacies and propaganda
✱ Debate and argument for the real world
✱ How to approach complex tasks
✱ Academic “habits” that can help you in the real world
✱ Evaluating resources effectively and using the internet wisely
✱ Strategies for being a proactive learner
✱ Ways to brainstorm and develop concepts
✱ Strategies for effective note taking
✱ Strategies to improve reading comprehension

We provide lesson plans and supporting materials created by teachers in cooperation with business and technology professionals emphasizing the connections between concepts addressed in the traditional school curriculum and real-world practical applications.

All materials developed by the Claremont Teaching Project are free of charge to teachers, parents, staff developers and education students.
